Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum have the highest fidelity to each other.
After all, the Blink Twice director couldn’t help but rave over her fiancé’s performance in the upcoming thriller—which hits theaters Aug. 23—and revealed why working together on the project brought them closer together.
“Making art is our love language,” Zoë told E! News’ Will Marfuggi in an exclusive interview. “We hope to continue doing it.” (For more from Zoë, tune into E! News tonight, August 14, at 11 p.m.)
And while there isn’t another project for the couple—who got engaged in 2023 after two years of dating—on the horizon, Zoë assured they’ve already grown together as artists. Indeed, it got both her and Channing out of their comfort zones.
“I approached him knowing he was the right person and just hoping that he would do it,” the Big Little Lies alum noted of Channing, who plays antagonist Slater King in the film. “He was asking me, ‘Why do you think I should play this role?’ He said, ‘No one really asks me to play roles like this.' And I said, ‘That's exactly why I'm doing it.’”
In fact, Zoë admitted that part of the reason she asked the Magic Mike star to be in her directorial debut was to support his journey as an artist.
“I know as artists, we always want to do something different and something a little bit scary,” she explained. “And I wanted to try and weaponize his charisma.”
Despite Channing’s initial reservations, the High Fidelity star emphasized just how easy it was to work together on set.
“We were so in tune,” she continued. “We worked on this project together, developing the character for so long. There are some scenes that people will see that are just off the charts. He's so good in the film. I’m so proud of him.”
Of course, Zoë was impressed by Channing’s acting skills long before she was the one directing them.
“I love the Magic Mike films,” she gushed. “I think they're so great. And I loved him in Foxcatcher. That was a performance where I thought, ‘Oh, wow, there's so much more to explore with this actor.’”
And Zoë, 35, wasn’t the only side of the pair who felt their romantic bond get stronger on set—Channing , 44, previously detailed how it felt to be on the other side of the camera.
“Our relationship was sort of born inside of the creative process of it in a way,” he echoed last month in an interview with E! News. “It didn't feel any different. That was what brought us together and made us really feel like we're very connected on what we love about life, what we love about just things in general about being alive.”

In a June 2021 interview with Deadline, Channing Tatum shared how honored he was that Zoë Kravitz thought to include him in her directorial debut, Pussy Island.
Amid rumblings of a romance, Tatum and Kravitz appeared to confirm their relationship status in Aug. 2021 with a sweet bike ride around New York City. "There's more than a friendship going on with Channing and Zoe," a source told E! News at the time. "They are spending a lot of time together and having fun. They are more than just close friends or co-stars. Their relationship has grown into more."
Though they initially posed separately on the 2021 Met Gala red carpet, the duo was photographed exiting the star-studded event together. Tatum even shared a photo with Kravitz on his Instagram Story from the after-party.
For their first Halloween together, the pair dressed up as Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster's characters from the film Taxi Driver.
During a chat with GQ, published in Nov. 2022, Kravitz said of Tatum, "He's just a wonderful human. He makes me laugh and we both really love art and talking about art and the exploration of why we do what we do. We love to watch a film and break it down and talk about it and challenge each other."
After over two years of dating, multiple outlets confirmed that Kravitz and Tatum are engaged to be married.
